The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath

The first book that we're reading in our Banned Books series is the semi-autobiographical book by Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar, that describes the descent of a young woman into mental illness.  It is set in the 60's and for those of us who remember those days between neo-Puritan values and the sexual revolution, it sure does help us to remember why we have such convoluted feelings about our own bodies and our sexuality.  Feel free to post your initial responses as you are reading the book.  We'll wrap this conversation up by mid-November.
